Dr. Muhammad Isma’il

I have a Ph.D. in Geography with a focus on Geospatial analysis of renewable energy potentials; M.Sc. in Geographical Information System (GIS) with a focus on the Relationship between Energy Consumption and Climate Change; and B.Sc. Geography. My research focuses on application of GIS in renewable energy exploitation, the analysis of energy production and consumption and the environmental impact of energy use. My interest in energy started at University of Leicester (UK), where I researched on “global energy dilemma”; I employed GIS to visualize the relationship between energy consumption, economic growth and climate change.

When I joined the Department of Geography & Environmental Management at Ahmadu Bello University, my research focused attention on land use and land cover change and their impacts on climate change in Northern Nigeria. During the course of my Ph.D., I employed geospatial techniques to analyze renewable energy potentials in Northwestern Nigeria. Recently, my research focuses on analysis of energy demand and supply, energy security and energy transition in Nigeria.
