Dr. Shehu Abbas

The Centre for Climate Change Economics, Policy and Innovation (CCCEPI), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Dr. Shehu Abbas holds BA (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D. Geography from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – Nigeria. He joined the Department of Geography and Environmental Management of the same University as Lecturer II in 2011 and rose to the rank of Reader in 2020.

He teaches a number of courses both at the Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels, some of which include: Man’s Relationship with His Environment; Spatial Analysis; Spatial Organization of Society; Transport Geography; Urban Transport Management; Urban Analytical Techniques & Modeling, Urbanization, Philosophy and Methodology in Geography and many others to mention a few.

Dr. Abbas is a Member, Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG), Member, Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (MInstTA). He has also participated in a number researches/consultancy activities such as the ‘‘Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment of Kaduna Infrastructural Development Master plan (SESA KADIMP) 2020-2050”. Abbas was also a member of the ABU Committee on Nigeria Vision 2050, and was saddled with the work on‘‘Climate change, migration flows& national security in Nigeria’’Dr. Abbas has published several papers in National and International journals, as well as presented numerous conference papers. He has also held a number of positions in the Department and is now the Head of Department.
